IslandHealth is a progressive Primary Care Practice in Guernsey with 25 Doctors and more than 22,000 patients. We provide accredited primary care from three locations, including a purpose-built surgery which opened its doors to patients in Summer 2023. The other Surgeries are in St Sampson’s in the north of the Island and in a prominent location in St Peter Port, Guernsey’s capital. We have a large team of nurses and physical and psychological therapists. Our GPs have many special interests and provide patients with expert care in these specific areas as well as in General Practice. The Practice can trace its beginnings back to 1894.

At IslandHealth, we are delighted to be able to offer learning and training opportunities to those either considering a career in medicine, or those already studying medicine. We are the only practice on the Island to offer GP placements to undergraduate students, and all of our GP’s, nurses and therapists welcome students readily. We have been offering GP placements for Medical Students for a number of years, and receive excellent feedback, particularly around exposure to patients and working in a supportive environment. At present we cannot offer training placements for GP registrars, but can arrange shadowing or work experience for any doctor looking to gain insight into General Practice on Guernsey.
