Dr. Anthony Hammond

Dr. Hammond brings a wealth of experience in general Rheumatology, and particularly the interventional management of joint and spinal pain. A graduate of Edinburgh Medical School, he completed specialist training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in Bristol, Bath, and London, including time at the National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases and The Royal Postgraduate Medical School. His academic work includes an MD thesis on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

During his tenure as a consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Dr. Hammond developed a subspecialism in spinal interventions and now teaches for the International Spine Intervention Society (ISIS). Based primarily in private practice at Harley Street, London, he now brings his expertise to Guernsey.

“Throughout, I have sought to find alternatives to solve the patient’s problems when usual care fails,” says Dr. Hammond. “This led me into spinal interventions to assist with the everyday problem of back pain and more recently into the rapidly evolving field of regenerative medicine. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues at IslandHealth to bring this to Guernsey.”

Dr. Craig Sheridan

A GP and Consultant in Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine, Dr. Sheridan qualified from Leicester-Warwick Medical School in 2006, achieving first-class honours in his intercalated degree. After several years in general practice, he pursued specialist training through Cambridge University Hospitals and East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trusts, including prestigious fellowships at the Defence National Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall, Loughborough.

Over the past decade, Dr. Sheridan has worked extensively with professional athletes, including as a medical consultant to the English Football Association (FA), and he continues his involvement with Ipswich Town Football Club. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and holds a master’s degree with distinction in sports and exercise medicine, as well as a postgraduate certificate in medical ultrasound.

These appointments reflect IslandHealth’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, specialist care close to home for the community, and highlight the diverse career opportunities for medics in Guernsey.
